Ciao!

Let's just say, that we should have visited Colombia LAST, as having a personal connection to this beautiful country made it so special.  Plus my decorations today were pale in comparison!  Nonetheless, we had a fun day!

Before our flight left, we had to finish our beautiful butterflies!

We had a long flight as we flew to Italy, about a 10 1/2 hour flight!  Everyone was a little sleepy, but as soon as we started sightseeing we perked right up!

Italy is such a beautiful country and there is so much to see, that one day can not do it justice!  We learned that Amica, is Italian for "friend" and that Anna Cate and Betsie's great great grandmother and grandfather came over from Italy.

Our amicas learned that Rome (Roma) is not only Italy's biggest city, but also the capital.    Some other fun facts that they learned were : the nickname for Italy is "Bel Paese" which means beautiful country....we all agreed; the country is shaped like a high heeled boot;  of Italian foods pizza is the most famous, along with pasta and gelato....and that Italians LOVE to eat;  they eat their biggest meal mid day (maybe we should all take notes!);  depending on what region of Italy you live in depends on what type of pasta you eat; Venice is made up of 120 islands and there are no streets; the Colosseum is the largest outdoor theater of ancient Rome....and the list goes on and on!

We viewed some beautiful pictures of Italy and found that Venice seemed to be a favorite, along with the coast.  I think that all our amicas love being around water!  Here are a few of the pictures....

After viewing all the pictures the girls had time to answer the question of the day.  It seems like our amicas would rather travel to school by other means rather than bus, car and foot!

Of course one of our first crafts was making the flag for Italy!

Since we learned that so many (if not all) of the churches have amazing mosaics, we decided to make our own!  All the amicas loved this!  It was so fun their creativity!

While the amicas were busy making their creations, we had them come over to Amy's Pizzeria!  Each amica made their own pizza for lunch and they had a fun time!

I think all my amicas would agree that their favorite part of the day was tasting 4 different kinds of GELATO...I can not disagree!  The order in which they were finished (yes, I mean 100% gone!) were Tahitian Vanilla, Double Dark Chocolate, Carmel Cookie Crunch and then Key Lime Graham.

All my amicas should definitely sleep well tonight as I think the jet lag was starting to kick in later in the day.  They need to be well rested for the morning.  As soon as we finish our mosaics we will be catching a flight to.......... well, how about we will be on a plane for roughly 2 1/2 hours......
