This week FLEW by....which also means another week of summer has come and gone.
Since it was the last day, my amicas where extra busy today as we had lots to do!!! As soon as they arrived this morning, they started writing letters to their 'Rett Girl' pen pals. When they were finished they did two days worth of "Question of the Day" in their journals.
Once all the writing activities were done we started crafting for the day!!! Not one....not two...but THREE crafts we needed to work on. And we did it...we were able to finish them ALL and have an extra 15 minutes at the end for free time!
Our first craft we worked on was making small snowglobes...after all the theme was 'Christmas in July'. The girls can chose to keep them for themselves or to give them as a gift. They were super cute! This
Second we worked on the third part of our circle of inspiration project for our 'Rett Girls'. We added some sparkle to clothes pins which will be used to hold our words of inspiration. The girls really liked this! They had fun showing their creative side making patterns with all the glitter!
Third we started our last project. We have a friend whose daughter has Goldenhar Syndrome and just had her 34th surgery at the age of 7. My amazing amicas decided they wanted to do something for Harlie. Our plan A didn't work out, so we went to Plan B. They had so much fun making her gifts and I can't wait to give them to her. They are in the final stages of drying now. I don't want to share too many pictures at the bottom in case she happens to see online! This project took some time.
After we completed our gift for Harlie, we enjoyed kebabs for lunch! The girls were able to chose from turkey, cheese and strawberry or ham, cheese and strawberry. I made these two years ago at camp and they were a hit and today was no different!!! All but one kebab were gone!
I am so proud of all my amicas for showing true compassion and empathy this week. These girls truly want to make a difference in someone's life. I loved seeing their caring side come out! It was a great week to start off camp this summer. I hope these girls know how special they make my very own daughter with special needs feel and I hope they will always continue to show compassion and empathy to others!
Session Two starts next week.....get ready to Rock and Roll!
Arrivederci!
